I can't dance properly!

Dd reports

Do you know what the most annoying thing with having epilepsy is?

No. It's not that you aren't allowed to drive a car until two years have passed since your last seizure.
No. It's not that you hardly can't drink any alcohol at all, due to the higher risks of having seizures.

It's the fact that you can't DANCE properly.

I've loved dancing all my life, in all different kinds of ways; aerobics, spontaneous dancing, traditional dances, following a more advanced choreography...
You can't really say I've ever danced "professionally" - it's just always been a hobby of mine, in my deep, musical addicted heart.

But with a diagnosis of epilepsy, sudden changes tend to appear when it comes to dancing, and then especially the "advanced choreography" part.
Every time I concentrate to learn a choreography - especially in the beginning - I sometimes have these short epileptic feelings. The ones I get just before I'm having a seizure (it's really hard to describe the feeling, so I won't even try...). Things get even badder if the choreography has many swirls and such, which make you dizzy.
And sometimes these feelings get so hard I have to sit down for a while. Relax. Just to prevent any seizures to occur. Which would be pretty bad, of course. In fact, I've already had two seizures during aerobics exercises - which also include choreography - so I do know what I'm talking about and what might happen if I'm not careful.

It doesn't mean I can't dance though (luckily!). I CAN still do choreographies, if they're not too complicated. I have a couple of dance performances in the musical I'll be performing in later this month, among with the rest of the ensemble.
But it's just that... I STILL get these epileptic feelings from time to time when I dance these kind of dances. Weak perhaps, but they're still there. And I'm pretty sad I just can't dance at 100% all the time just because I have these.
And now I'm gonna brag a bit, but I feel I have the right to. AND it's true: I'm a pretty quick learner when it comes to learning new dances, and I got a good sense for rhythms (which is a result of a 9-years long flute "career", with note reading and harmonies and all that jazz). So if I didn't have epilepsy I get the feeling that I'd manage to dance a whole lot of stuff. And that would have been just awesome!

Unfortunately, that's not how it looks today. Today I have limits. Or, my body has. It reaches the point where it just can't handle things anymore, and needs to take a break.
I've already given up on one dance performance in the musical. I realized it'd be too complicated for me, and I just didn't feel well while practicing it. I'm rather safe than unsafe.

Besides that, life in general is pretty good nowadays.
A bit hectic, maybe. No, VERY hectic, but good.

That sucks. I understand what you mean, dancing is a way to express what your feeling. It can shake away your sorrow and take you to foreign places. Too bad you couldn't do the musical. It sounds like it would've been fun.

Isn't there some medicine that cures or at least diminishes the epilepsy?

This is my comment, I like my comment

Yes there is, I'm taking medication regularly each day. But you can't like cure the whole of it, just ease things down.
